LETTER TO THE EDITOR IN THE TRENTON TIMES

OCTOBER 23, 2013

Cefalone goes the extra mile

Many community residents are cognizant of concerns related to our local governments and those of the state government. If we consider the multiplicity of services assigned to county jurisdiction, it is essential for us to carefully consider whom we elect as our district’s freeholder.

This November, Hopewell resident Republican Ron Cefalone has my committed endorsement to be elected to the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Mr. Cefalone’s ties to the county are life-long. Born in Trenton, he lived in Hamilton and Ewing townships prior to living in Hopewell.

As an astute business entrepreneur of CG Sports, Mr. Cefalone offers experience in the economics of a sensible, balanced budget.

A people person, he expends many hours with area youth, where he is known as “Coach Ron.” He coaches soccer and directs the Hopewell Valley Field Hockey Summer Camp. (Citing his own participation as a youngster in Trenton’s Little League baseball, Mr. Cefalone recently became a facilitator for donated baseball items for North Trenton Little League.) To him, our youth are our future.

Mr. Cefalone proposes to give focus to vocational education – perhaps having Mercer Vo-Tech offer airplane mechanics and related coursework as a support system to make Mercer Airport viable and sustainable.

Mr. Cefalone is also emphatic about working toward expanding services at the Joseph F. Cappello Special Services School and the entire Mercer County Special Services School District.

Mr. Cefalone’s agenda exceeds the given of increasing jobs, cutting taxes, etc.

Pennington

Senator Inverso Comments

on the Abuses of the School Lunch

Program

Press Release…..

School Lunch Program Abuse “Appalling”

Former Senator Peter Inverso issues statement on abuse of the federal and state school lunch program

July 17, 2013

HAMILTON, NJ – On Wednesday, former State Senator Peter Inverso issued the following statement regarding Comptroller Matthew Boxer’s findings on the school lunch program:

“I was outraged to learn of the results of Comptroller Matthew Boxer’s findings regarding the extent of abuse within the federal/state school lunch program. It is particularly appalling that the report identifies as the culprits, individuals serving on boards of education and employees of the identified school districts.

Shamefully, his report further confirms the blatant waste of taxpayer dollars and ongoing corruption perpetrated by those working within our public systems.

I sponsored similar legislation to the New Jersey School Lunch Program (S-459) which would have started a school breakfast program to provide nourishment to children from low income families as they begin their school day. This program and the school lunch program were intended for those truly in need, and not an income supplement to those within the school systems.

Comptroller Boxer’s findings shout not only for auditing and accountability reforms within the programs but prosecution of those who have willfully violated the trust given them.

As a Senator, I pledge to work with Governor Christie in developing initiatives to remedy such abuses by instilling measurability, accountability and enforcement in the way taxpayer dollars are spent.”

Hudson County Democratic Senator Brian

Stack Endorses Governor Christie

June 10, 2013

For Immediate Release

Contact: Kevin Roberts

908-243-0013

Bridgewater, NJ

– Providing one of the most significant cross-aisle endorsements of the Governor’s bipartisan leadership and accomplishments, Democratic State Senator Brian Stack today endorsed Governor Christie for reelection. Senator Stack (D-33), who represents the cities of Hoboken, Jersey City, Union City, and Weehawken, is the first sitting legislator and sixth mayor to cross the aisle in support of the Governor. The endorsement is another example of the broad, bipartisan campaign the Governor is running and another important marker of the support he is receiving from the Hispanic community.

Union City is the second largest city in Hudson County and has a population that is nearly 85% Hispanic. Jon Corzine won over 75% of the vote in 2009; President Obama won 83% of the vote. Just one in five voters is registered Republican.

"For three years now, Governor Christie has accomplished great things and made New Jersey proud by simply putting the people of our state and doing his job first. No matter the issue, we know Governor Christie will take on the fights that need to be had to get things done and work with whoever is willing – Republicans, Democrats or Independents – to move our state forward,” said State Senator and Union City Mayo Brian Stack. “I’m proud of the work we have accomplished together and I’m honored to call Governor Christie a friend. There is no one better suited to continue that work for Union City, for this district, and for New Jersey altogether, which is why I am proudly endorsing him for reelection today.

Governor Christie has worked aggressively with leaders across the political spectrum to address some of New Jersey’s toughest and most deeply-rooted issues. As Governor and in campaigning for reelection, Governor Christie has prioritized outreach to New Jersey’s Hispanic community and progress in addressing their most important issues. Those efforts have attracted the support of community leaders such as Martin Perez of the Latino Leadership Alliance, the most prominent Hispanic organization in New Jersey, and the National Coalition of Latino Officers.

“Mayor Stack has always, always put the people of his city and his district first. When I took office, I knew I would have a partner in Union City who was willing to join me in common causes and fight to get things done,” said Governor Christie. “Brian and I have covered a lot of ground in the last three years together – brining reform to Trenton and results to the people of Union City. We aren’t done yet and I am honored to have his support, the support of the community, and his friendship for another four years of work and progress.”

Along with the Senator, Stack’s running mates for the Assembly in the 33rd District, Jersey City Deputy Mayor Raj Mukherji and Hoboken Housing Authority Executive Director Carmelo Garcia, also endorsed Governor Christie for reelection today. The 33rd District is just 8.1% Republican by registration.

To date, fifteen elected Democrats from around New Jersey have officially endorsed Governor Christie, including Camden City Council President Anthony Davis, Burlington City Mayor Jim Fazzone, Manville Mayor Angelo Corradino, Chesilhurst Mayor Michael Blunt, Harrison Mayor Ray McDonough, Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long and all eight members of the Harrison City Council.

The Governor has been unanimously endorsed by the Essex County Police Chiefs Association and earned the support of key organizations and individuals spanning the spectrum of political party and advocacy in New Jersey. This support includes the endorsement of the 20,000-member Laborers International Union and the 1,300-member Port Authority Police Benevolent Association.
