Candidate For Governor of New Jersey

Christopher J. Christie was nominated to be New Jersey's United States Attorney on December 7, 2001.  Chris was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate and served seven years as the chief federal law enforcement officer in the State of New Jersey.

During Chris's term as US Attorney, his efforts in battling political corruption, corporate crime, human trafficking, gangs, terrorism and polluters were praised by leaders in both parties and drew national attention. His successful prosecutions included:

Christopher J. Christie

  • High-profile politicians from both parties
  • Large settlements from companies corrupting our healthcare system
  • Aggressively prosecuting child pornographers, including the two biggest cases in the U.S. in the last eight years
  • A comprehensive rooting out of fraud at the largest medical school in the country
  • The dismantling of several violent street gangs, including the Double II Bloods
  • The disruption of several terrorist plots and the jailing of their perpetrators, such as the plan to invade Fort Dix
  • Holding to account several large-scale ocean polluters and winning significant punishment and large fines

As US Attorney, Chris led a 145-lawyer department with offices in Newark, Trenton, and Camden. His office was charged with the enforcement of federal civil and criminal laws in New Jersey. In that capacity he works with the FBI, DEA, ATF, Secret Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Postal Inspectors and other federal agencies in New Jersey.

In June 2007, the New York Times wrote, "Mr. Christie has already had an effect on an important state issue outside the realm of corruption, with an impact that is as subtle as his attack on Trenton politicians was sharp. That issue is the state’s $33.5 billion budget, shorn this year of members’ parochial spending, called Christmas tree items, that has been inserted in the budget in past years at the last minute."

Upon Chris's resignation on December 1, 2008, every major newspaper in the state applauded Christie's term as New Jersey's US Attorney. The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote: "Christie has already done more good for New Jersey than some previous governors. His office successfully prosecuted more than 130 public officials. And it has not lost a single corruption case."  The Courier News wrote:  “Christie seems at times to be the only one with any power who cares about New Jersey’s political corruption and does anything to stop it.”  And The Record wrote:  “All New Jerseyans owe him a huge debt of gratitude for refusing to accept this state’s sleazy status quo…has been central to the wave of reforms that have swept Trenton and is slowly spreading to county and local levels.”

Chris began his legal career in 1987, when he joined the law firm of Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci in Cranford, New Jersey. In 1993, he was named a Partner in the firm. Chris was admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey and the Bar of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey in 1987.  In 2004, the Corporate Crime Reporter named Chris one of America’s top ten prosecutors.

From 1995 to 1997, Chris served as a Morris County Freeholder and he was elected Director of the Board in 1997.

After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1984 with a BA degree, Chris then attended Seton Hall University School of Law where he graduated in 1987 with a JD degree.

Born in Newark and raised in Livingston, Chris has lived in New Jersey his entire life. He resides in Mendham, New Jersey, with his wife of 23 years, Mary Pat, and their four children.

Skye Gilmartin was born in Point Pleasant, NJ and spent her formative years on a farm in nearby Monroe Township.  Her mother moved, and eventually settled in Northwest Montana, in a rural community where Skye home-schooled through Christian Liberty Academy.  This form of education fostered a strong sense of patriotism, environmental responsibility, and a call to political activism.

Skye grew up in a wonderland of nature and adventure, which included hiking, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding.  Right out of high school she started pre-nursing at a local college and working in a nursing home, where she discovered a love of the elderly that continues to motivate her to this day.
Skye Gilmartin

In 2003, Skye came to the realization that she was missing out on a relationship with her family from New Jersey.  The desire for time with her father and two grandmothers sparked a need to return to her New Jersey roots.  Continuing the adventure of her life, she packed up her beloved cat, and drove across the United States to be with her family.  Once settled, she took a job at Robert Wood Johnson on the cardiology unit and started school at Sanford Brown Institute studying cardiovascular technology.

It was then that Skye met her soulmate, Bob Gilmartin.  They were seeking a place to start their life together and discovered Hightstown.  Immediately the two loved the small idyllic community, and have been active residents since 2006.

Lawrence Township Council

Rick Miller is running for re-election to the Lawrence Township council because he believes it’s time for a change for the better by finally putting an end to the 14 years of one-party rule that has dominated Town Hall and stifled sensible government. Rick, and his running mate Ginny Bigley, are committed to returning fiscal responsibility, openness in government, and commonsense to Lawrence Township.

Rick, a life-long Lawrence resident, was first elected to the town council in November 1993.  The voters have consistently returned him to office ever since.  In 1995, Rick had the honor of serving as mayor – one of the youngest in Lawrence Township history.  The year he was mayor the municipal tax rate actually went down.
Councilman Rick Miller

For most of his time on council, Rick has served in the minority.  He has been frustrated by the current council majority’s failure to hold the line on taxes and to make the township live within its means, despite his many suggestions.  He has fought to bring more openness to the way in which our town is run.  And he has been an advocate for commonsense when commonsense has been in short supply.

“The year I served as mayor, our tax rate for municipal purposes was $0.43.  Since the current majority took control the following year, the tax rate has jumped by more than 65 percent,” Miller said recently.  “This tax and spend approach to local government has got to stop.  The only way that will happen is to change who’s in control at Town Hall”

“With Ginny Bigley joining me and Bob Bostock on the council we will not only changecontrol, we will change the way our local government works, bringing back fiscal responsibility, openness, and commonsense,” Miller asserted.

Born and raised in Lawrence, Rick has long been a community leader, following the example set by his parents who have lived in Lawrence for more than 50 years.  Rick has been actively involved in many social and charitable groups, including the Lawrence Lions, The Sons of the American Legion, the Sunshine Foundation’s Operation Dreamlift, the NJ National Guard State Family Readiness Council, and in raising money to preserve open space and the Brearley House.

As a councilmember, Rick has served as a liaison to the Lawrence Neighborhood Center, the Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, the Lawrence Alcohol and Drug Alliance, the Patriotic Committee, the Main Street Project, and the Recreation Advisory Committee.
Rick was educated in the Lawrence Township Public Schools and went on to graduate from Rider College with a degree in finance and a minor in political science. Rick is a senior financial consultant for PNC Investments in Ewing Township.

Rick, his wife, Sharon, and their daughter Charlotte own a home on Carter Road , which is currently under renovation to accommodate their young, growing family.  He looks forward to continuing his work to make Lawrence a better place to live in the years ahead.

Ginny Bigley was elected to the Lawrence Township Board of Education in 2004 and re-elected in 2007.  As a school board member, Ginny was the founding chairman of the Community Relations Committee, a position she has held continuously since.  A strong believer for more open and transparent government, Ginny has done much to improve the flow of information between taxpayers and Board members.

Ginny Bigley

An effective and innovative advocate in public safety, Ginny co-authored the first anti-gang policy in our school district and in Mercer County County.  She has worked closely with various law enforcement agencies to provide awareness programs for the students on topics such as internet safety, gang awareness, the affects that false alarms and bomb threats have on a community.  Ginny wants to continue her commitment to the Lawrence community as a member of the Township Council. Ginny is a 19 year Lawrence resident and a life-long New Jerseyan. Web Site
